In what is being described as another major success for US special operations, Army Rangers have reportedly carried out a high-risk raid on a fortified Iranian tank production site concealed within the Zagros mountain range. The strike is said to have significantly weakened Iran’s remaining capacity to manufacture armored vehicles, at a time when its broader military structure is under sustained coalition pressure.
The mission took place deep inside hostile territory under the cover of night. Units from the 75th Ranger Regiment infiltrated a complex, multi-layered facility built into the mountainside. After gaining entry, they encountered resistance from Iranian Revolutionary Guard forces, leading to intense close-quarters fighting. Meanwhile, specialized teams systematically dismantled critical infrastructure, including assembly lines, heavy equipment, prototype armored vehicles, and stockpiles of key components. The operation culminated in large secondary explosions that caused sections of the underground facility to collapse.
This operation is part of a broader series of coordinated actions that have reinforced US dominance in the region. Recent developments reportedly include control over the Strait of Hormuz following a Marine amphibious landing, the destruction of a major missile site in Hajiabad using bunker-buster munitions, and long-range strikes by B-2 bombers targeting deeply buried facilities. Advanced aircraft such as the F-35 have also been used to neutralize strategic sites, while earlier missions eliminated significant quantities of ammunition stored in mountainous areas. Close air support from A-10 aircraft and the deployment of newer munitions have further contributed to the pressure on Iranian forces.

Iranian state media has criticized the raid, labeling it an act of aggression and alleging civilian harm. However, US Central Command maintains that the target was strictly military in nature, designed to support armored operations and intentionally hidden to avoid detection. The loss of this facility is expected to further limit Iran’s ability to repair and produce tanks, reducing its chances of mounting an effective counterattack.
With key strategic routes secured and reinforcements arriving via heavy transport aircraft, US forces are operating with significant tactical advantage. Helicopter support, including Apache gunships, continues to provide air cover. Meanwhile, recent Iranian actions—such as a cluster munition attack near a Jerusalem airport and a large-scale missile launch—have failed to shift the balance and may have intensified the coalition’s response.
The raid underscores a broader message: even deeply concealed military assets are not beyond reach. According to US officials, the operation demonstrates the capability to locate and eliminate targets regardless of terrain or fortification.
All participating personnel were successfully extracted after completing their objectives. Assessments of the operation are ongoing, and further developments are expected as coalition forces continue their campaign.
